Hey what's up? My name is Nick. I'm from a really small town called East Tawas in Michigan. It's on Lake Huron, the second largest of the five Great Lakes in the US. It's a nice little town and there are lots of outdoor activities to do (like hiking, fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing, swimming, etc).

I was in the Czech Republic from February till June this past semester. I was studying at Charles University in Prague for a semester. Prague is such a beautiful city with so many old things - I'm sure you know. I've actually been to Sweden once right before I went to study in Prague. I was there in Stockholm for a two nights. It was a really nice city - even in the middle of winter! All of those small islands are nice and cozy. I stayed on Skeppsholmen in the auf Chapman. So great!

I like to take pictures, travel, and do outdoor activities like bike riding and hiking. I am interested in a lot of things like foreign languages (like Japanese, Slovak, and of course Swedish), music, movies and films, architecture, the social sciences, and urban planning.

Because I'm sure you'd like to get to know more music, I've shared some links above about some artists I like: Owen Pallett - a Canadian singer from Toronto; Zемфира - or just "Zemfira," a Russian singer who is pretty popular over there; my token American band She Wants Revenge - they are really cool; and I doubt you know or care but I really like Dubmood, a Swedish chipmusician.

I'd like to attend graduate school in a couple of years for urban and regional planning, but first I have to finish my boring degree in international studies.

Leave a comment and I'll reply ASAP. :)

Sweden is known for a place that harvests culture, tolerance, progressive thinking, innovation, etc. and I think to become more connected with such a culture it is important to learn the language.

Good times!

  3. It make be happy to read what you've written about Sweden. It is very hard to appriciate it for me, because I'm used to it.
But since Sverige Demokraterna became more popular and a member of our parlamentary has the attitude against people from other cultures and religions in Sweden detoriorated. It's sad. I hope that they don't get any more power, because they are very disrespectful against refuuges especially muslims.
Have you heard about Sverige Demokraterna?

I really like the picture! it looks like I'm seeing the photo on a spoon, cool.
